The history of Thame Carnival
Thame Carnival has been run every year (apart from through Covid-19 years). We will be trying to establish when it started – but here we will try to find photos going back as many years as we can.

A short amateur 16mm film taken around 1934 of Thame fair and carnival. This takes place in Thame High Street, and one of the floats gives tribute to King George the V, so this dates prior to 1936 at any rate (the year in which he died). Historically, Thame can boast both a thriving carnival/fair and an annual agricultural show.
This film was digitised frame by frame from the original 16mm film at 2048 X 1536 pixel resolution and uploaded as such…what YT processing has done after this is anyone’s guess! (No credits appear in this film. Music: bensound.com License code: C9GIDIDBVG63UTYW)
